About the Artist
Frank Crowe is a nationally recognized railroad watercolor artist who has numerous paintings in many corporate and private collections around the United States and Canada. Frank has always had an interest in railroads and has photographed trains in all the states except Alaska, which he intends to do in the near future. His passion for art started at an early age, and he painted his first watercolor of a train at age eight. He was self-taught in the medium of watercolors and never took art classes in elementary, middle, or high school. After applying for an art scholarship to the University System of Georgia, which he was awarded, he graduated with a B.S. in Art Education for secondary schools. After graduation from the University of Georgia, Frank went to work for the Georgia Southwestern Railroad (RailTex) in 1989. Then, as a CSX qualified engineer, he went to work on the newly formed Georgia Central in 1990. Frank has worked in the carpet industry now for 30 plus years as a Senior Stylist and Designer. His current job has allowed him to use his artistic talents as well as to travel and vacation all over the United States and Canada. His railroad photography serves as a great inspiration for many of his paintings. Frank's railroad paintings have won numerous awards in various juried shows around the country. In addition to being an Artist in Residence at several venues and museums, Frank has been interviewed and showcased in numerous articles among many national railroad periodicals in the U.S.. Frank uses English Tube watercolors on acid free papers to create his one of a kind originals that are highly sought after among collectors of transportation art.
